Esben and the Witch - Deathwaltz

Goth sounding band Esben and the Witch released their second full length album titled Watch The Sins Not Only The Face a couple weeks ago on Tuesday, January 22nd via Matador. I have not sat down and gave the album a full listen yet but believe me when I say this is one of the next ones on my list. Violent Skies, their previous album served as an enjoyable goth rock piece and helped to create anticipation for a new record which has arrived. Put your ears to this track and see if this is something you might be interested as well.

Salva - Drop That B

LA producer Salva has released a new single due out on his Odd Furniture EP which will be out February 12th. This club track is a banger with its big rap beats and is worth checking out. Give it a listen and see what you think for yourself.

Cat Power - Manhattan Remix

Electronic producer Ryan Hemsworth has remixed Cat Power's Manhattan. The track features artist Angel Haze as well. This track comes highly recommend! Put your ears to this track as I doubt you will be disappointed.

Tara King th. in the recording studio

According to a picture posted on facebook, Tara King th. is currently recording in the studio. The post included the picture shown above and a caption which read "Tara King th. / recording session - New LP". At this time no further details have been disclosed yet about the recording but I am aware through some sources that the new album is expected to be pressed to vinyl on Moon Glyph records and will be out later this year. For those who are not familiar with Tara King th. put your ears to the track below as these guys come highly recommended! The track The Hum and the Hiss is a track off their last cassette which was put out in the Fall on Moon Glyph titled Uncolored Past, Part I & II.

Dream Koala - Ocean

Chilled out electronic producer Dream Koala has released a new single today titled Ocean making 2013 look very promising for this young dude. He is only 18 years old and is already gaining attention and rightfully so. Give the track a listen and see for yourself.

Parisian - Sean

St. Louis based producer, Parisian is releasing an upcoming single on a 7" split via Lefse Records this next Tuesday. The track is a great chilled out, choral washed, beat driven tune which is worth putting your ears to. Listen for yourself and see what you think.

Beliefs - Lilly and Gallows Bird

Toronto based shoegaze band Belief is set to have a new record out on March 5th. The album will self titled will have a limited pressing quantity of 300 copies of the new record, all on a smokey clear colored vinyl. The two tracks posted are for the shoegaze fan out there and are worth putting your ears to. See what you think for yourself.

Benoit Pioulard - Margin

Benoit Pioulard has another record due out on Kranky records called Hymnal which is expected to be released on March 5th. A single has been released by the experimental folk musician which sounds promising. His last release back in 2010 was a good record and after hearing the single I even furthermore look forward with anticipation to the next album. Put your ears to this track and see what you think for yourself.

Sigur Ros, Depeche Mode, and Jim James Detail New Releases

Sigur Ros have indicated that they are working on an 8th record to be released. Keyboardist Kjarten Sveinsson has left the band leaving the group as a trio. They have released a preview of a new song which sounds pretty heavy for typical Sigur Ros. Hopefully they are truly releasing a new album and the tracks end up as power driven as the preview indicates.

Depeche Mode's new record has been titled Delta Machine and is due out March 26th on Columbia records.

Drifter - None Else

Helsinki based producer Drifter who is new to the electronic community has released a track that is a must listen to the electronic listener out there. The track None Else is a single he has released off of his to be yet released Not Far Now due out later this year. Flaming Lips April Fools Joke???

The Flaming Lips have announced that they will be releasing a new album titled The Terror on April 1st. This will be the first time the Lips have released a proper new album since 2009's Embryonic. The album is said to sound disturbing according to Wayne himself. A new single of the record titled Sun Blows Up Today is set to appear sometime during the Super Bowl during a commercial. Now the question remains, is this all true or is it an elaborate April Fools hoax calculated by the Flaming Lips and Warner Bros.

UPDATE: Europe release date April 1st and a US release date of April 2nd so it would appear to be true!

The Exaltics - Broken

German based project the Exaltics is releasing a new EP on February 5th titled Muted World. The EP is described as Drexicyan Electro sounding and after listening to the track the sound description holds to be true. Put your ears to a single of the forthcoming EP called Broken and see what you think for yourself.

King Krule - Octopus

London musician King Krule has released a video to the B-side track from his single released last year called  Rock Bottom. The B-side which has been made into a music video as well is titled Octopus and has a good hazy, jazz, indie rock sound to it. Put your ears to the track and see what you think for yourself.

Phon.o - Black Boulder (SCNTST Remix)

German electronic producer Phon.o released a record titled Black Boulder back on September 18th of this past year. A recent remix of the track by Berlin producer SCNTST reshapes the song in a beautiful way. Listen to both versions as they almost sound like different tunes altogether and both tracks have a great sound to them.

Thao & The Get Down Stays - Kindness Be Conceived

Thao & The Get Down Stays has a new record titled We Are Common due out on February 5th. The band has a nice indie-folk sound to them and serves as an enjoyable listen. Here a single of the new album to see for yourself what to expect.

Bosnian Rainbows - Torn Maps

Ex-Mars Volta co-leader Omar Roriguez-Lopez's new band Bosnian Rainbows released their first single hours before the announced break up tweets posted by Cedric. The band is planning on releasing a record some time this year on the Sargent House label and currently has album title. The track has a decent alternative indie rock sound to it. Give it a listen and see what you think for yourself.

Iceage - Ecstasy

Copenhagen band Iceage is putting out a new record in February on the 19th titled You're Nothing. The band has released a video for an upcoming track of the record called Ecstasy. The video is dark interesting watch. I for one am anticipating the release of the record especially due to the success of the previous record. If you are trying to catch these guys live they will be playing at the Triple Rock Social Club on Sunday, April 7th.

Submerse - Algorithms and Ghosts

Tokyo producer Submerse will be releasing a new EP titled Algorithms and Ghosts on March 15th both digitally and on limited edition vinyl. Hear the single which has been released of the forthcoming EP. I recommend this track to the electronic listener out there.

The Growlers - Hung By Heart

California based band the Growlers released their most recent record this last Tuesday titled Hung At Heart. The band is considered to be in the genre of beach goth. For those of you not knowing what that sounds like (don't blame you), it has a strong psychedelic, spaced out 60's surf rock sound. Give it a listen and see what you think for yourself. Above is a new video released for a track of the new record by the name of Salt On A Slug. If you are trying to catch them in the Metro area, the Growlers will be playing at 7th Street Entry a week from this Saturday on February 2nd.

Bonobo - Cirrus

Electronic band Bonobo has a released a new single due off of their next release which will be titled North Borders. The album is due out April 2nd. I highly recommend putting your ears to this track!

Mars Volta Calls It Quits

Local Natives - Hummingbird

Indie pop rock outfit Local Natives have a new record due out this next week on January 29th which is currently streaming on itunes. The Besnard Lakes - People of the Sticks

Canadian indie rock outfit The Besnard Lakes have released a single due off of their forthcoming record Until in Excess, Imprectible UFOs which will be out on April 2nd via Jagjaguwar. This band includes Barr Brother members Sarah Page and Monica Guenter. The track features hazy, dreamy vocals over slightly reverbed guitar rock. Put your ears to this track and see what you think for yourself.

Boddika and Joy Orbison - &Fate

Boddika and Joy Orbison have released a new track which will be featured on a new compilation due out next month titled Think and Change. The record will be put out on Instra:mental's label, Nonplus on February 26th. The album features the likes of Four Tet, Boddika & Joy Orbison, Martyn, dBridge, and more. Give a listen to the single to get an idea of what to expect from the compilation.

Mount Moriah - Bright Light

Country rock band Mount Moriah has their sophomore release due out next month on February 26th. The new album titled Miracle Temple will be out on Merge records. The record has a dusty road trip kind of feel to it. Give this track a listen and see what you think.

Dauwd - Heat Division EP

Dauwd a UK based electronic producer has a new EP due out on Ghostly titled Heat Division. The EP is due out on March 12th. The track has got a modern techno with chilled textural sound to it. Put your ears to it and see what you think for yourself.

Julian Lynch - Carios kelleyi I

Psychedelic experimental New Jersey artist Julian Lynch has a new single out of his forthcoming record which will be out Underwater People record label. This will be his forth album and will be released on March 26th. The track has a psychedelic, experimental, folk sound to it which is very well done. Give the track a listen and see if this is an album you will be waiting to hear more of like I am.

Miracle Falls - Debasement Tapes

Ex Rev Mercury/Sparklehorse musician Paul Dillon has a new project out called Miracle Falls. Miracle Falls released their first debut album back in September on the 2nd. The band has a grungy, dreamy, pop sound at times resembling Teenage Fanclub. Give the record a listen and see what you think for yourself. Here is a track off the record titled Well I Guess.

Falty DL - Hardcourage

NY producer Falty DL has a new record which was released this last Tuesday on Ninja Tune titled Hardcourage which is currently streaming online. The record is a very well put together electronic piece which is worth this listen if this is in your avenue. Some tracks stand out more than others on the record but overall it appears to be a strong piece. Put your ears to this record and see what you think. Falty DL

Ex-Cops - True Hallucinations

Brooklyn based band Ex-Cops released their debut album True Hallucinations this week on Other Music Recording record label. The band has a dreamy, hazy, alternative rock sound reminding me at times of bands like Real Estate, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Teenage Fanclub. Justin Vernon to be featured on new Colin Stetson album

Colin Stetson has been touring with Bon Iver and working on new material in the process. Stetson is working on a new album titled New Warfare, Vol. 3. Apparently Vernon is featured doing vocals on four new tracks of the forthcoming record. Disclosure - White Noise

UK group Disclosure has released a new single which is worth the listen. The track has a dance, chilled out, club vibe to it and is worth checking out as this group was considered to be a breakout duo of 2012. Give this track a listen and see what you think for yourself.

Gold Panda - Trust EP Stream

Pitchfork is currently streaming Gold Panda's new EP titled Trust. The 4 track EP is due out on vinyl March 5th. Preorders are currently being accepted through the Ghostly label which the release is on. This EP is a good quick listen. Well worth the time as this is a nice little electronic gem. Gold Panda

LA producer Nosaj Thing released a second album on Tuesday titled Home. It is a electronic record which is very chilled, spaced out and features a few guest vocals as well. Give the record a listen and see what you think. This was one of the more interesting releases from this week.

Mogwai - Wizard Motor

Mogwai at the end of February will be releasing a soundtrack to a french zombie television show called Les Revenants. They have released a single due off the EP on the 25th titled Wizard Motor.

J Mascis and Dirty Projectors on Portlandia Friday

Portlandia is currently in its 3rd Season which is running on IFC. The new episode this Friday features J Mascis and some members of the Dirty Projectors playing in a Battle of the Gentle Bands festival. Watch the skit via stereogum and get a preview of what to expect from Friday's episode. 

Prince - Screwdriver

Montreal pop group Young Galaxy has a released a new single due off of their forthcoming album on Paper Bag Records titled Ultramarine. Ultramarine is due out on April 23rd. The track has a new order dream pop sound to it and is worth putting your ears to. Give it a listen.

Cayucas - Cayucas

Indie pop rock band Cayucas released a single back on October 11th of this last year on the Secretly Canadian record label. The band is opening for Ra Ra Riot on their most recent tour. The single has a nice upbeat vibe to it and is worth giving a listen. Check it out for yourself and see what you think.

Caspian - Waking Season

Stumbled upon this post-rock band Caspian which just released their third album back on the 18th of September titled, Waking Season. Looks like they are scheduled to be at 7th Street Entry on Tueday, March 12th if you are trying to catch them live. This record is for fans of explosions in the sky, mogwai, and mono. Youth Lagoon - Dropla

Youth Lagoon has recently released a single of his forthcoming record Wondrous Bughouse which is due out on March 5th. You can hear progression to a new style within this track building upon the curiosity of what the new album is going to sound like. New Local Record Label - Korda

A new record label has popped up in Minneapolis. A group of friends who were all in various bands decided to create a record label to release their own titles as well as a few friends. They have released a compilation album with bands: The Starfolk, Jim Ruiz Set, Typsy Panthre, and The Ocean Blue. This record comes highly recommended. The album has a good mellow, steady flow with a nicely complementing range of songs. Listen to a track by the Ocean Blue to get an idea of what to expect from the compilation.

Darkstar - News from Nowhere

UK based group Darkstar has a new record due out on February 5th on Warp Records. The album is currently available for streaming and if you have the time is worth putting your ears to.

Alex Calder - Light Leave Your Eyes

Alex Calder has a new record coming out on Captured tracks on March 19th titled Time [EP]. The single is a nice lo-fi track which provides some anticipation for the EP.

Pazes - Draw Lines

New single off of Pazes forthcoming album due out at some point this year. Chilled out electronic track that is worth the listen. Put your ears to this track and see what you think for yourself.

Umberto - Night Fantasy

Kansas City based Umberto is releasing a new record in April titled Confrontations. Here is a new single off of it. A track for electronic fans who love that 80's inspired style.

Solange & Blood Orange - True

Back on January 7th Beyonce's younger sister, Solange alongside Blood Orange released a collaborative piece titled True. The album to me has a strong 80's pop sound to it such as demonstrated in the first track titled Losing You. This was a sleeper record for me as I really did not expect much and to my surprise actually somewhat enjoyed listening to this record. I highly recommend putting your ears to this EP if you can as it is a very interesting listen. See what you think for yourself. Here is my favorite track off of the EP so far.

Pantha Du Prince & The Bell Experiment - Elements of Light

Pantha Du Prince released a new album on Tuesday collaborating with the Bell Experiment. The record starts off slow but builds into something which blends very nicely together. I gave this a listen at work and really enjoyed what I heard. If you are into electronic music you should give this a record a listen and see what you think for yourself.

Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold

I happened to stumble upon a recent post on consequence of sound about a post-punk group which released an album last year titled Light Up Gold. If you are a fan of this style of music it is worth putting your ears too. I highly suggest this record to anyone willing to give it the time. Light Up Gold

Moon Wiring Club - Spare Tabby at the Cats Wedding

A coworker of mine introduced to a group called Moon Wiring Club on Saturday. For those of you like me who were unaware of this artist should sit down and give this album a listen. It is a series of samples and loops all mixed together and sound amazing. Listen to a preview of the album yourself to get a sense of what the album sounds like. I can almost guarantee you will be as satisfied as I was.

Phish Covers Black Sabbath's Iron Man

Phish as per usual played a New Year's Eve show at Madison Square Garden. One of the covers which was played during the live set was Black Sabbath's Iron Maiden. Regardless of whether you are a fan of Phish or not, they do a good job covering the tune and is worth checking out at least once. Put your ears to this track and see what you think for yourself. Music starts about two minutes in.

Wayne Coyne's Giant Laser Hands Go Missing

While playing a festival in Australia, Wayne had his giant laser hands stolen from him after the Flaming lips played their set at Southbound Festival. Wayne tweeted after the incident "Fuck!!!!!! Someone stole Laser Hands!!! Please please please!! At Sount Bound Festival!!! Fuck!! Help is!!!" Festival organizers helped the Lips by offering four VIP tickets to next year's festival to the person who returned the hands. The hands were later found by festival workers as they heard they were ditched by the person who had taken the hands.

Frank Ocean Loses License

Frank Ocean was pulled over for speeding in California on New Year's Eve doing 90 mph in a 65 mph speed zone. The police also found a small bag of marijuana and charged him with fines for both possession of marijuana and speeding. His license was taken by the police and he was released on the spot. Frank Ocean has tweeted two responses in response to attention from the charge saying "hi guys, i smokepot. ok guys, bye." and "hi guys, i drive a m3. that bitch fast..ok guys, bye. :)"

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - We Know Who U R

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds announced awhile back that they were releasing a new album in 2012. The first single titled We Know Who U R has been released off the new record which is due out on February 18th. Put your ears to this track and see what you think.

Myotis and Total Trash

A good friend of mine has always talked about bands his cousin has been in and I brushed it off just like you would anything else until today. I finally sat down and listened to both projects which are currently available on cassette and must say I was pleasantly surprised. Myotis is a loud rock outfit with that garage rock aesthetic you can't help but love, at least I can't help but love. Total trash is a punk rock band named after the Sonic Youth track, which is very noisy and vocals sounding at times similar to Kim Gordon (Ironic?). Both projects are available for free on bandcamp and are worth the listen. Put your ears to both projects and let me know what you think.

Starf***** has a new single out of the forthcoming Miracle Mile release due out on February 19th. The tune has a good electro-pop sound to it and is worth pressing your ears to at least once. Check it out.

Ty Segall Side Project, Fuzz

Ty Segall has announced a new side project with his band mate Charles Moodheart called Fuzz. A single has been released which is currently sold out. Still worth checking out as I'm sure there will be more to come in the near future.

The Band In Heaven - High low

Spacey psychedelic rock group The Band In Heaven have a new single out right now called high low. It will be featured on their new EP release on February 18th. There will be a limited vinyl pressing consisting of a green and red vinyl, as well as 3-D glasses which will go along with a fold-out sleeve.

Buddha Machine 4

A Chinese group by the name of FM3 released their latest version of the Buddha Machine. The Buddha machine is pre-made music player with a jack for headphones, a speaker, and some various controls. The machine has loops on it and the concept is very intriguing. Check out a track off the new machine.

Peaking Lights - Lucifer in Dub


Peaking lights released a new record earlier this year titled Lucifer. The couple's son is a big dub (not dubstep for those of you who don't know dub reggae) fan so they decided to remix Lucifer giving it a dub style sound. The record was great as Lucifer and it is still great dubbed out. Check out this acid tripped surfer video from a tune of the new record put out on Mexican Summer.

Circle Takes the Square - Decompositions Vol. 1

Athens, GA band Circle Takes the Square released a new record for the first time in 8 years. The group has a male and female vocal base and sounds like a mix between hardcore punk, progressive metal, and elements of indie rock and screamo. If at all appealing, it is worth a listen as it is a very interesting piece. Sweet Valley - Jenova

Sweet Valley brothers have put out a new record available for free through their bandcamp. Its a drugged out electronic record filled with hooks to keep you coming back. This record is worth a listen. Throughout the year I've heard rumors of a new My Bloody Valentine release and according to a article detailed on SPIN media's site it appears to be true.
