Bobby Womack - Tired Of Living In The Country

Bobby Womack back during the 70's made a country record. Yeah, that's right, Bobby Womack ventured out and tried creating some country music. I recently picked up a used copy of this record and had to share a track off of it with everyone else. So put your ear to this track and see for yourself what the result is of a soul legend creating some country music.

Suzie - Born Single

A new side project from the group Night Moves called Suzie, recently released a new cassette limited to 100 copies titled, Born Single. This record is an incredibly solid listen and sounds like the perfect soundtrack to summer. It's an airy dream pop album which is reminiscent of Bear in Heaven. The album is available via their bandcamp and is for sale at price point of your choosing, as it is set up as a name your price mp3 download. I highly recommend this to anyone willing to give it a listen so put your ears to this album and see what you think for yourself.

Deerhunter - Heatherwood

Tonight I felt like jamming  Deerhunter's early record Cryptograms and was reminded of a great tune which the record happens to end with. Heatherwood is a pleasant distorted psychedelic rock tune that does not disappoint. Put your ears to this track and see what you think for yourself.

Laurel Halo - Chance of Rain

Late last year, Laurel Halo released another full length record on Hyperdub records. The album was one I skipped over quickly but upon recently revisiting realized I was missing a lot. This record is a great as the techno songs are structured so well and sound great. It does not feature as much experimentation as its predecessor but still remains an overall central themed song structure and well executed tunes that showcase this woman's many talents. This is one for electronic fans to pick up and spend some time with because if you are anywhere near where I was, you have not been listening to this record enough! So put your ear to this track, and see what you think for yourself.

Miles - Blatant Statement

I recently picked up a Miles EP titled, Unsecured, which was released after Miles most recent full length, Faint Hearted. The EP starts off with a great decomposed house track that carries abrasive frequency builds through the dark hitting track. The song pairs well with the artwork and leaves one to imagine that this would be playing in some top secret boat flying across some open water. Put your ears to this track and see what you think for yourself of this dark electronic Miles jam.

Elizabeth My Dear - Flaming Lips ft. Ke$ha and New Fumes

During Black Friday this year, Record Store Day released some limited releases to independent record stores one of which included the Flaming Lips cover album of the Stone Roses. The album was limited to a run of 500 so consider yourself lucky if you were able to grab a copy for yourself. Listen to their psychedelic cover of "Elizabeth My Dear" which features Ke$ha and New Fumes as well.

Called to Ring - Ariel Pink and Jorge Elbrecht

Mexican Summer celebrated the success of their record label's 5th year of business this year and are commemorating it with a massive picture book that includes and exclusive 10" record. The exclusive record features many of the label's artists collaborating to create new songs. One of the tracks featured on this 10" is titled, "Called to Ring" and is done by the likes of Ariel Pink and Jorge Elbrecht. The two create a nice reverb heavy, psych, garage rock sounding tune that will play out well for your afternoon listening. Go ahead and give this track a listen and see what you think for yourself.
