Akira Ifukube - Godzilla Soundtrack

Death Waltz recently released the soundtrack from the original Godzilla film. The soundtrack was created by Akira Ifukube who makes the music sound intensely dark and horrifying. Death Waltz has released a limited number of the 60 year old recording which features original artwork from Cheung Tat, colored 180 gram vinyl, and a fold-out poster. This is a must listen for those who are fans of listening to soundtracks. Put your ears to the album below and see what you think for yourself.

Allah-Las - Worship The Sun

Yesterday, Psychedelic rock group the Allah-Las released their second studio record titled, Worship The Sun, via Innovative Leisure. The band met and was formed while members worked together at Amoeba records. They have managed to put out some awesome sounding psychedelic music with a strong retro vibe. The new record serves as a nice highlight to any sunny afternoon or any afternoon for that matter. Put your ears to this record and see what you think for yourself.

The Replacements - Take Me Down To The Hospital

I was fortunate enough to catch the Replacements first hometown show in 23 years at Midway Stadium last weekend and ever since have had their tunes running through my head. One highlight song from the performance for me, was "Take Me Down To The Hospital" which has been glued in my head for days. So naturally, I felt it was worth writing  a quick post and sharing this song with everyone else.  Put your ears to this track and enjoy for yourself.

Ned Doheny - Get It Up For Love

Ned Doheny was a dude who happened to be making some pretty fantastic music during the Laurel Canyon era of music. A collection of his tunes has recently been compiled titled, Separate Oceans, and was released earlier this summer via Numero. The album sounds like the soundtrack to every yacht cruise or that it should be. Below is a the first track off of the Numero compilation titled "Get It Up For Love". Weedeater - Hungry Jack

Southern sludge metal group, Weedeater recently pressed their debut album, ...And Justice For Y'All,  to vinyl for the first time. The album was released in 2001 originally and serves as a great sludge metal record. Above is a track off of the album titled, "Hungry Jack". Sinoia Caves - Forever Dilating Eye

Black Mountain musician, Jeremy Schmidt has a new release out from his project, Sinoia Caves. The album, Beyond The Black Rainbow, was released via Jagjaguwar on September 2nd. It is an original soundtrack and serves as a dynamic listening experience. If you are the type that enjoys listening to soundtracks or ambient electronic music then this one is worth spending the time with. Below is a track from the soundtrack titled "Forever Dilating Eye". Halasan Bazar & Tara King Th. - 8 Album Teaser


Moon Glyph psych rock group, Halasan Bazar and baroque pop group, Tara King Th. are releasing what looks to be one of the more promising collaborations this year. Both bands are standout groups from this once local, now bay area based label. The new record, 8, will be released in October on the 14th. Check out the album trailer above to get an idea of the new music to come. One last thing to mention is that Halasan Bazar's album, How To Ever Be Happy, which was released two years ago is being pressed to vinyl for the first time. If you are not familiar with this record already, change that and give it a listen, because it is a strong psych rock release. A track from the album is featured below and the reissue is available September 22nd.
